Red-necked Pademelon

These cute fellows grow to about 40-50cms in height. They are very shy and generally inhabit temperate forests near grassland, hiding in the forests by day and emerging into the grasslands to graze in the dusk

Seemingly OK with his tattered ear this young male was quite friendly and not scared to venture closer than most of the others.

King of his domain

This is is the mob's dominant male and leader and he's not scared of much. He stands at least 1.5 metres tall and I don't think I would like to get in his way. Those arms would rival many a man.

Hide and seek

While most of the mob graze on the shorter grassed areas this one was way out in the tall grass, only visible when he popped his head up to see what was going on.

Daycare

While the males are fighting the females congregate with each other along with the juveniles.

End of the tail

Breakfast is all over and it's time to move on to find shelter and rest up for the remainder of the day.
